Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.
Dominance Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
